Fix: Yahoo Mail Doesn’t Support IE10 Error

Filled under:

Error Message:

You're almost there, but your web browser doesn’t support the newest version of Yahoo! Mail.

Upgrade to a faster, more secure version of a supported browser. It's free and it only takes a few moments:

→ Firefox
→ Internet Explorer (for Windows)
→ Safari

Are you getting the same error when logging in to Yahoo Mail?

The error message above shows up commonly on Internet Explorer 10 (both Windows 7 and 8). It usually appears after you log-in. Instead of being redirected to your inbox, you’ll get the error.

Yahoo Mail’s newest interface supports IE10. But why you’re getting an error?

Resolution
The thing that you need to check is the Compatibility View setting. If compatibility view is enabled on IE, it auto-corrects misplaced menus and any other display issues on a webpage. It usually works on websites that emulate old version of Internet Explorer.

Sometimes, IE auto-enables compatibility view on some websites like Yahoo. It simply causes the error. So, when you see that Compatibility View is enabled (in address bar), just click on it then refresh the webpage. Do the same thing with Yahoo Mail. After that, you’ll be redirected to your mail inbox.

For your reference, here’s where Compatibility View setting is located:
